Lone Star Cyclists Tours

Lone Star Cyclists is an organization of bicycling enthusiasts (solo, tandem, recumbent, E-bikes and touring riders) mainly from the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. We are dedicated to the interests of recreational bicycling, bicycling safety, and camaraderie of the highest nature in our membership. We like to ride our bikes, get home in one piece, and seriously enjoy having fun.

As part of that, several of us enjoy going on bicycle tours. We think bicycle touring is a great way to see our world. We are planning multiple tours for the next several months. Some will be Bike Overnights and Three Day Weekend tours. These are fun to do but also a great way to introduce new people to bicycle touring.  Other tours will be one to two week tours. These will mostly be farther from home with the opportunity for more adventure.  

If you like touring or want to give it a try please join us for one of our tours.  

You do have to be a member of Lone Star Cyclists to participate. But that is easy to do.  

Painted Churches Tour

Date: October 31- November 3

Cost: On your own

We will spend time discovering the history and art of the Painted Churches of Texas, a collection of churches built by Czech and German immigrants in the late 1800s and early 1900s. They look like regular old church buildings on the outside but are very beautiful on the inside.

This will be a fixed base tour based in or close to La Grange, TX. We will make arrangements for a place for us to stay and divide the cost between the participants.

We will provide RWGPS maps links for different routes for each day.

We will drive down on Thursday, October 31. We will then ride Friday, Saturday, and Sunday and drive home after the ride on Sunday. Of course you can arrive and leave when you prefer.

And each participant will be responsible for their own travel and all meals.

Membership to Lone Star Cyclists is required.

Summer or Fall 2025 two week tour

We’ve plan to have a longer tour either in the summer or fall of 2025. It will be somewhere out of state.  

It will be a hotel to hotel supported tour meaning that we will have a vehicle that will carry our gear to the next hotel each day. The vehicle will not provide SAG support but can be available in case of an emergency. Each participant will be expected to get themselves from point A to point B each day. Each rider will need to determine if they are able to cover the daily mileage. This will be a fun tour in a beautiful area.  

We will provide RWGPS maps for each day.
